The Sunday Reset: 10 Things to Do Every Sunday for a Better Week
Why Sunday Matters
Monday doesn't have to feel chaotic. People who spend 60–90 minutes on Sunday preparing for the week report 40% less stress on Monday and higher productivity through Friday. It's not about working on weekends — it's about entering Monday with clarity instead of chaos.
The 10-Step Sunday Reset
1. Review Last Week (10 min)
Open your calendar or journal. What went well? What didn't? What did you avoid? Don't judge — just observe. Awareness is the first step to improvement.
2. Brain Dump (5 min)
Write down everything swirling in your head: tasks, worries, ideas, errands. Get it all out of your brain and onto paper. Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them.
3. Plan Your Top 3 for the Week (5 min)
From your brain dump, pick three outcomes that would make this week a success. Not 10, not 7 — three. Write them on a sticky note and put it on your desk.
4. Meal Prep (30 min)
You don't need to cook everything. Just prepare the basics:
- Wash and cut vegetables
- Cook a batch of rice or dal
- Boil 6–8 eggs
- Prep overnight oats for 3 days
This eliminates the daily "what should I eat?" decision fatigue.
5. Clean One Zone (15 min)
Don't deep-clean the whole house. Pick one zone: kitchen counter, desk, wardrobe shelf, bathroom. A clean space reduces mental clutter.
6. Lay Out Monday's Clothes (2 min)
Sounds trivial, but it eliminates a decision from your busiest morning. Pick everything including accessories.
7. Review Your Finances (5 min)
Check your bank balance. Review last week's spending. Are you on track with your budget? A 5-minute weekly check prevents month-end surprises.
8. Schedule Workouts (3 min)
Block workout times in your calendar like meetings. If it's not scheduled, it won't happen. Even 20 minutes × 3 days is enough.
9. Digital Cleanup (5 min)
Clear your email inbox to zero (or close to it). Delete screenshots you don't need. Unsubscribe from one newsletter you never read.
10. Rest Intentionally (the rest of Sunday)
After your reset, stop. Read a book. Watch a movie. Take a nap. Call a friend. The whole point is that 90 minutes of intentional prep buys you guilt-free rest for the remainder.
